Cover Faux Wood Wall Panels

Faux wood wall panels can add warmth to a home and a unique texture on a wall; however, this wall tends to be treatment permanent and time consuming. Removing panels requires a big effort involving the removal of sockets and woodwork. In addition, some panels cover completely unfinished walls that would require gypsum, tape and priming before applying color consistency. However, it is possible to use texture color to create a new look on your existing panels.

Instructions

Please drop any protruding nails along the length of each piece of faux wood wall panels. Replace bent nails with new ones if needed. Remove all switch plates and outlet covers. Cover floor surfaces with drapes after removing any furniture that may be damaged. Cover the remaining furniture. Tape off the length of all basics to protect the wood from being textured. You can remove the tape and paint the floor tiles after texture panels.

Mix water and grease cleaners in a bucket. Sponge entire faux wood wall panels surface to remove dust and grease to allow for smooth application of primer. Wipe the surface completely with paper towels. Apply dense or filler to the vertical grooves, seams, holes and pleats in panels with a morsel or filler. Allow the drip to dry completely (about 1 day) and sand smoothly using a palm grinder or sandpaper. Perform this step if you aim for a completely smooth wall. Applying structural color over panels creates a very unique look, even when allowing the vertical tracks left.
