The garage door torsion spring is located in a metal bar in the upper part of the garage door. The tension must be adjusted when the garage door is not opening and closing properly. If either of the two garage door torsion springs is broken or worn, they need to be adjusted. Adjusting a torsion spring to the garage door is something potentially dangerous if you are not careful.
Search in the garage door torsion spring. There is a reddish cone on the left side of spring that would be the center part of the garage door. Observe the screws and notches that hold it in place. Take a metal rod that is about 18 inches long and 1/2 inch in diameter and stick it on the first notch to hold the cone. Make sure the bar is firmly in the groove and able to hold the cone.
Adjust garage door torsion spring, use a 7/16 inch wrench to loosen the two set screws, keeping the rod in the cone groove. It is very important to keep the rod in place as this could be what is potentially dangerous. If you remove the rod while loosening the screws of the torsion spring, it could be adjusted and hit. Place another bar of the same size in another notch in the cone. Keep one hand on each bar and turn the cone to the right to tighten and to the left to loosen the tension.tensioning garage door torsion spring, adjust garge door spring hang, how to calculate torsion door adjustment, how to adjust torsion spring garage door hard to open, how to adjust overhead garage torsion spring, how to adjust garage door springs torsion, are all grage torsion rods the same size, adjusting roll up door torsion springs, adjust preload on garage door torsion bar, torsion spring adjustment
