Special Rectangular Chimney Brush

Nov 24th

Rectangular chimney brush – Chimneys come in many shapes, sizes and finishes. Many chimneys are made of stainless steel, which helps to conduct heat well and prevents the buildup of creosote inside the chimney. Still, regular cleaning of your chimney will ensure that it is safe to drive at all times. If you want to clean the chimney, however, without the help of a professional, take a lot of strength and work.

Purchase a 6-inch round or rectangular chimney brush. For stainless steel use liners, wire brushes – only those with a polyester-based bristles. Wire brushes may damage the steel liner during cleaning. Climb ladder up to your roof, and gain solid footing. Set the brush to flex rod. Lift up the chimney cap (or remove it if it can be removed completely) and set it aside.

Force brush down the rectangular chimney brush, turning the brush in a circular motion as you force it down. This brush should be very tight in the chimney and will require some force on your end. Continue brushing the entire stack from top to bottom in a circular motion, which should take about 10 minutes. Clean creosote brush off by washing them with soap and water outdoors and disposal of large chunks of creosote properly, since it is highly flammable. (Check your local trash disposal laws.)
